AKANKSHA VIDYA KENDRA

The Akanksha Vidya Kendra is an informal school run by Akanksha Samiti to provide quality primary education to children coming from the economically weaker sections of the society. The children are primarily drawn from the slums in and around Butler Palace Colony, Lucknow. The school has a strength of about 60 students. The school is equipped with modern tables, chairs, white boards and other teaching aids. It has toys and other articles for students.Free books and uniforms are also given to children. Besides education and co-curricular activities, emphasis is given on all-round grooming of the children preparing them for better education and life ahead.

The school runs seven classes (Prep, Nursery, K.G., I, II, III & IV). The syllabus is based on UP Primary Education for Sarva Shiksha. Class Prep and Nursery focus on Oral Learning based on understanding the environment around them and are introduced to writing and drawing. The main subjects for Class KG to IV are English, Hindi, Maths, Science & EVS. Students are given high quality mid-day meal prepared by Akanksha Masala Mathri Kendra.

Those enrolled inthis school are given all help to secure admission in formalgovernment schools. All this was made possible by efforts of our dynamic members and volunteers.
